The daily increase in newly confirmed infections with the corona virus in China seems to have stabilized slightly – but is still very high. The number of infections rose again by 3,143 by Friday.
This confirms 31,161 virus cases, as reported by the Health Commission in Beijing. It was the second day in a row that no more new infections were reported than the previous day. Within a day, however, 73 patients died of the new lung disease – as many as the day before. There are 636 deaths in China.
It remains open whether a new trend in the contagion can already be identified with the new numbers, since the statistics can also fluctuate with the number of ongoing examinations. In addition, more than 26,000 suspected cases are registered. From the perspective of the World Health Organization (WHO), the course of the epidemic is also difficult to predict. Outside of the particularly affected areas in central China, the situation in China currently appears to be relatively stable, said WHO expert Michael Ryan in Geneva.
